- see the best sunset in the world (Santorini) May 2010
words cannot describe its beauty.. to witness this for 5 days on the island of Santorini was amazing.. grabbing a beer or a cocktail and sitting on a roof top patio and watching the sunset.. while looking behind you and seeing the moon come into the sky was amazing..
Greece itself was like nothing else.. I was fortunate enough that this was my second time there.. My first time was with my best friend Luella.. and we travelled to the island of IOS.. looking back. it was such a great random adventure and its almost weird that we chose that place.. which just shows how much fun we were having.. because I can assure you that we probably wouldn't have picked the smallest island out there.. with one road.. and donkey trails.. and yet.. we had the most AMAZING time together!
This time.. on my honeymoon.. however.. we did some research.. well a lot of research and we chose Mykonos and Santorini.. and boy were we satisfied.. Santorini was the most romantic place I had ever been and Mykonos was the funnest.. they say when you go to Mykonos.. you will be back.. and I cannot wait until the day I go back.. it is that wonderful
I could have sat in the restaurants in little Venice all day long.. literally.. frappes.. water crashing on you.. and just the view..
Santorini gave me a panic attack as we drove in by ferry (highly recommended) It is built from an exploding Volcano.. and the sharp jagged edges of the cliffs were scary.. and I often laid in bed at night wondering if I was going to slip on a trail and go off ;)
touring the city and eating.. that is all we wanted to do.. and that is all we did..
by the end of the trip.. London was a warm welcome.. because I don't think I could have had any more tzatziki and feta if you paid me..
I also stepped out of my comfort zone and I drove us around in a rented smart car.. it was tiny.. and the driving in Greece in INSANE.. and even not recommended.. there are no signs.. lines.. traffic control.. anything.. and the taxi drivers who have lived their whole life (except for the one we met from Edmonton) have no patience for slow driving Canadian girls in their 2 foot long car..
This trip was life changing.. and moments there that I will never forget.. I mean.. it was my honeymoon! we ate.. slept.. tried to catch up on jet lag.. watched a fashion model photo shoot at our hotel.. and ate some more..
I will be back.. hopefully sooner then later..
